Fame is a video performance work born from the need to interrogate the gaze—assumed masculine—that shapes and nourishes the ways we relate and construct our own identities.
In this act/manifesto, we witness the birth of a body that, from its first breath, suffers the violence of a gaze in which it remains trapped. It is a consumptive, sexualized gaze that violates the very nature of the creature, which in turn consumes and devours, yet never truly nourishes itself.
The performance expresses repulsion and rejection of this shaping gaze. It is an act of rebellion and emancipation from the dominant view. The subject/object of the performance becomes a subject, exploring its own hunger while continuously looking at, reflecting on, and interrogating the audience; it challenges, asks, and demands.
